Lakemba Public School is situated in the inner south west of Sydney and participates in the Priority Schools Program (PSP). There is a total of 35 languages spoken by families at the school. The predominate group is Arabic with growing numbers of Pacific Islander, Bangladeshi, Chinese, African and Vietnamese students. The school's purpose is to involve the whole school community in providing a quality curriculum that is relevant to the needs of all students, nurturing students in a caring and supportive learning environment and valuing the rich cultural heritage of the school community. All students are encouraged to pursue excellence, develop self discipline and be independent.
